Composite thermopressing molds

Hot compression of binder-bonded fibers, panels and composite materials.

Hot compression molds that consolidate natural or synthetic fiber mats with binder, composite materials and technical panels, such as those used in automotive parts, linings and furniture. They do not process wet pulp: the material goes in dry or pre-impregnated and is consolidated under controlled pressure and temperature. Final scope is defined based on geometry, material, equipment, volume, tolerances and operating conditions.

Overview

Tooling designed for the press, the material and the cycle.

The result depends on pressure, temperature, time, heat distribution, closing, demolding and material behavior. These parameters must be part of the design from the start.

Problems we solve
Forming composite materials
Controlling pressure and temperature
Manufacturing panels or pressed parts
Designing closing and alignment
Achieving repeatability and surface finish
Variants

Types and scope.

Natural fiber molds

Forming of fibers with resin, moisture or binder depending on the process. Ideal for: Sustainable components and lightweight structural parts.

Composite material molds

Tooling for laminates or blends that require pressure and a thermal cycle. Ideal for: Technical parts and panels.

Panel molds

Larger surface areas with control of thickness, parallelism and temperature. Ideal for: Construction, furniture and industrial components.

Pressed part molds

Cavity and counter-cavity for three-dimensional geometries. Ideal for: Consumer or industrial components.

Workflow

How we work.

01
Material characterization

We review composition, format, flow, moisture, thickness and thermal behavior.

02
Press survey

We validate area, force, stroke, parallelism, heating, cooling and mounting.

03
Tooling design

We define cavity, counter-cavity, closures, guides, vents and thermal control.

04
Manufacturing and assembly

We machine components in steel, aluminum or combinations.

05
Cycle testing

We check closing, temperature, geometry, finish and demolding within scope.

Technical assessment of the requirementManufactured solution or completed work, per scopeDimensional or functional inspection defined for the projectDocumentation included in the commercial proposalRecommendations for use, maintenance or next steps, when applicable
Keep in mind

Technical considerations.

Available force

The projected geometry and required pressure must be compatible with the press.

Heat distribution

Uniformity depends on plates, heaters or circuits, contact, insulation and control.

Demolding

Draft angles, shrinkage, texture and temperature affect part release.

Mold material

Steels, aluminum or combinations are selected based on pressure, temperature, wear, volume and cost.
